Octopus Garden
- Australian National Maritime Museum
Gadigal Country (Sydney) - 2024
Enter a digital ocean and become part of the octopus world. Hide, hunt and shapeshift through play as the environment responds to every movement.
By exploring and moving as they do, people learn what makes these creatures extraordinary, their intelligence, curiosity and sense of play. A space to learn through movement and imagination, where understanding comes from doing.
Technology
Built in Unity and Flutter with Rive, the experience links four interactive zones into one connected environment. Kinect Azure cameras generate 3D point clouds in Pointcaster, with tracking data sent via MQTT to drive large-scale projection and gameplay.
Visitors design animated octopuses on Rive-powered Flutter touchscreens, with each creation rendered live on projection and shared via a cloud backend.
