Step into the mind of Norman Hetherington, creator of Mr Squiggle. Turn simple lines into faces, creatures and stories through play and imagination.
Each drawing joins a growing wall of creations, forming a shared canvas of ideas and inspiration, a playful space that celebrates creativity, collaboration and the joy of turning nothing into something.
Technology
Built with Flutter and Rive, the installation combines touchscreen drawing with live animation. Visitors’ sketches are saved to an online backend and broadcast via MQTT to a central Flutter app, where they animate on a large display.
A custom moderation tool manages live content, while QR codes link each drawing to a shareable online version.
Three projectors are blended using Nvidia Mosaic and Epson projection utilities to create a large, seamless backdrop, while the interactive stations are each driven by a mini PC and a multi-touch monitor.
