Living Change
- Royal Australian Mint
Ngunnawal Country (Canberra) - 2024
An animated interpretation of the 14 billion coins made to date, each one shimmering as it moves. As people walk by, the coins flock and surround them like birds in flight.
The surface shifts with every step, reflecting the constant rhythm of exchange that connects us all, a visual reminder that change never stands still.
Technology
Built in Unity, the system combines Orbbec depth cameras with Pointcaster to generate real-time point clouds. These are voxelised and transmitted via ZeroMQ, driving a dynamic particle simulation. Each gesture alters the flow of light and motion, turning human movement into animation.
Three projectors are blended and mapped to a curved wall using Madmapper to create a large seamless canvas.
