Gravitational Weave
- Canberra Museum and Gallery
Ngunnawal Country (Canberra) - 2024
Step into space as a Type I supernova. Movement shifts the wavelength of your light, revealing how scientists discovered the universe is expanding faster, not slowing down.
Inspired by Dr Brian Schmidt’s work on redshift around black holes, the experience turns complex science into something that can be seen and felt, sparking curiosity for the next generation of explorers.
Technology
Built in Unity with real-time body tracking, the installation uses multiple Orbbec cameras composited in Pointcaster to map movement in 3D space and project visuals across two ultra-short throw projections. Tracking data also drives an adaptive soundtrack, creating a seamless connection between motion, sound and light.
Each movement subtly shifts the simulated universe, revealing the invisible forces at play.
