Goddess in the Machine
- ACMI
Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country (Melbourne) - 2023
At the end of Goddess: Power, Glamour, Rebellion, a mirrored screen becomes a futuristic photo booth a space to look forward as much as inward.
Created in collaboration with AI artist Jess Herrington, the work uses computer vision to challenge perceptions of beauty, generating future looks not yet defined. People play, record and share short clips, leaving with a digital keepsake a glimpse of transformation and beauty reimagined.
Technology
Developed in C++ with RGB camera tracking, the system maps real-time 3D masks generated from AI-enhanced imagery. Animated geometry, particle effects and facial motion capture combine to create layered visual responses.
Visitors record and share short clips through a local web interface, bringing creativity, identity and technology together in a single interactive experience.
User input is via a rotary encoder with a custom fabricated dial. ACMI’s lens readers are incorporated into each station and integrated into the system to allow clips to be collected.
