Floating Realm

Gadigal Country (Sydney) - 2026
Developed for Vivid Sydney 2026, in collaboration with Torres Strait artist Brian Robinson, a series of large-scale LED sculptures rise from Darling Harbour’s waterline, and extend to the skyline. The work is an adaptation of Brian’s illustrations, and brings together a collision of marine life, mythology, and pop culture. Forms hover in darkness, their illuminated outlines shifting through reflection, scale, and distance, turning the Darling Harbour lighthouse and Maritime Museum waterfront into a stage where ancient motifs and contemporary icons coexist.
Technology
High brightness LED neon flex is mounted to a series of large-scale steel supporting structures. The support structures are mounted to floating pontoons as well as the top of the lighthouse. 3-phase power is run to the pontoons via specialty underwater cables.
